About Lavender Crest

CELEBRATING OUR 7th YEAR!!

Lavender Crest Farm is a 15 acre ORGANIC LAVENDER FARM located in the Finger Lakes region of New York state. Located just outside of Penn Yan, the farm sits on the crest of a hill that overlooks Keuka Lake.

The Finger Lakes region and it’s beautiful lakes creates an ideal microclimate for growing lavender.

This area is New York’s largest wine producing region with over 100 wineries and vineyards located around Seneca, Cayuga, Canandaigua, Keuka, Conesus and Hemlock lakes. Because of the lakes’ great depth, they provide a lake effect to the lush vineyards that flank their shores. Retaining residual summer warmth in the winter, and winter’s cold in the spring, the grapes are protected from disastrous spring frost during shoot growth, and early frost before the harvest. The lakes provide the same benefit to our lavender and just like the wine from France, our lavender can be compared to that which is grown in the Provence region of France where this aromatic herb is native. It is a wonderful place to visit. One of the most beautiful places in the world.

Lavender Crest Farm has incorporated the beauty and design of its lavender fields into a landscape of gardens, orchards, ponds, wetlands and buildings. The formality of our rows of purple is framed by open space, and vistas of Keuka Lake lavender thrives here because it enjoys the indigenous microclimate that is provided by Keuka Lake.

Our success as a business is deeply rooted in our commitment to preserving the agricultural heritage of the Yates County.  We believe our farm celebrates all that the acreage can provide: a sustainable perennial crop of organic flowers, a working farm that harvests the lavender by hand, distilling it into oils, hanging it in bundles to dry and creating value-added products from the essential oils and sachet. We are a tourist destination that gives the visitor a connection to America’s agricultural roots, a sight for learning and celebration, and a connection to the world via the internet that allows us to gain and share information on the agriculture of this herb.

Our lavender fields contain more than 1,000 plants at this time and are expanding. The rows of lavender when blooming vary from white and pink to shades of violet and deep purple. Our test gardens have varieties of English, French, Grosso and Super lavenders as we are always looking for the perfect lavender for its many uses: aromatherapy, perfumery, culinary, floral, and landscaping.

When you visit Lavender Crest Farm, you are invited to wander the fields, enjoy the beauty of this sweet smelling herb, pick your own bouquet of flowers, picnic on the lawns, and experience all the flavors, fragrances and healing skin care qualities of this purple flower. We are open starting in June few days a week and then everyday from July 1st until Mid August  Please make our farm part of your visit to the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.
